Rolex Oyster Perpetual Replica Watch – The history behind it and what it really means

As I said earlier Rolex Oyster Perpetual Replica Watch  is not just a collection, it is a patent which proves that your Rolex is waterproof and has a self-winding movement working on kinetic energy.

Oyster case

Trivia: The Cellini is the only model that does not use the oyster case which is why the term ‘Oyster Perpetual’ is not visible on any of the Cellini models.

Moving on to the next part, the term ‘Perpetual’ refers to the perpetual rotor of the movement housed inside the Oyster case.

Apart from the word oyster plastered on every model, the typical shape of the oyster case also gives it away. The Oyster Case – A case that employs Rolex’s patent in-house process of screwing the bezel, case back and winding crown into the middle case. To further ensure water tight security a Twinlock or a Triplock winding crown is screwed into the rolex oyster perpetual fake watch case (the features on the brochure make a lot of sense now, don’t they?). Typical to Rolex, all the cases undergo testing which ensures high quality. But these days, the Oyster case is made of a middle case crafted out of a concrete block of metal either made out of 904L steel or 18 karat gold or platinum, that has a screw-down fluted case back and a friction fitted crystal and bezel.

The perpetual rotor is at the heart of every modern automatic watch today

An ingenious system and a true work of art by Rolex, this movement is at the heart of every modern automatic watch today. The Perpetual Rotor – 5 years after inventing the Oyster case, Rolex, in 1931 created a self-winding movement that would rotate 360º with the natural movement of the wearer’s wrist to generate power and was supported by a half-moon shaped oscillating weight.

The word ‘Oyster‘ was coined in the history of Rolex in 1926 when they created the first waterproof and dustproof wristwatch. Named the ‘Oyster’ because of its oyster case, this watch featured a hermetically sealed case which provided optimal protection for the movement, giving all models that have used this case a depth of at least 100 meters.

Over a period of time and after being tested under various extreme conditions (read underwater testing, mountaineering, extremities faced during daily wear, travelling through different time zones, aviation, motor racing), the Oyster case emerged victorious which is why this case became an essential element for the Submariner, Explorer, Air King, GMT Master, Yacht Master, etc.

Even though Rolex Replica Watch patent on the perpetual rotor expired in 1948, this movement remains to be a milestone in the world of horology.
